Flare Effects 2.0 for Photoshop Documentation


Installation

  • Run the Setup.exe program.
  • Follow the onscreen instructions.
     

Main Form

  • X Pos, YPos: Sets the X Position of the effect where 0,0 is the center of the screen, -1,-1 is the upper left and 1,1 is the lower right. You can quickly set the position by clicking anywhere on the preview window, or you can set the x,y postion to an offscreen position.
  • Size: This is the size muliplier, it affects the overall size of the effect.
  • Bright: This is the brightness multiplier, which affects the overall brightness of the effect.
  • Aspect: This is the aspect ratio of the effect.
  • Zoom: This is the zoom multiplier for the effect.
  • Preset: This dropdown allows you to select from a list of saved files, or to select the default effect.
  • Edit: Allows you to edit the preset's parameters. Note: You can not edit the default effect.
  • Set Path: Sets the file path to the presets.
  • Addition: Add source image to effect.
  • Blend: Blend source image and effect.
  • Brightest: Pick the brightest between the source image and the effect.

  • Preview: This is the main editor/preview window. It will show either a wireframe representation of the effect, or a preview of the final effect depending on the state of the Preview button. The currenly selected Element will be both highlighted in this window (red) and selected in the listbox. You can change the position and size of the Element by either using the provided sliders, or by clicking and dragging in the Preview window. To change the selected Element, click on the desired Element in the listbox.
  • Size: Sets the overall size of the selected Element.
  • Position: Sets the relative position of the Element. (-1.00 is the default)
  • Preview: This button will create a preview of the current setting in the editor window.
  • Element List: This is a list of all of the elements that make up the effect, to change the selected Element click once on the desired Element. To edit the individual parameters for the Element, double click on the desired Element.
  • Add: Add an Element.
  • Delete: Delete an Element. NOTE: You may not delete the first element in the list, you can only change its type.
  • Edit: Edit the specific Element parameters.
  • Type: Select the type of Element.
  • Element Preview: This window will show a preview of the currently selected element. 
  • New: Create a new effect and adds one default flare to it.
  • Open: Opens a .lns file from disk.
  • Save: Saves the current settings to disk.
  • Exit: Leave the editor.

Flare Parameters

  • Bright: Set the brightness of the Flare.
  • Falloff: Set the realative falloff of the Flare. A larger value increases the falloff rate, and a smaller value decreases the falloff rate. Set to a low value for a gradual falloff or a high value for a sharp falloff.
  • Noise: This adds random noise to the Flare. The larger the value, the coarser the effect.
  • Streaks: Add random streaks to the Flare. A large value adds smaller and sharper streaks to the Flare and a small value adds larger streaks.

 

Ray Parameters

  • Bright: Set the brightness of the Rays.
  • Count: Set the number of Rays.
  • Rotation: Set the rotation of the Rays
  • Sharpness: Set the sharpness of the rays. A small value will make fat rays, a large value will make very sharply defined rays.
  • Noise1: Adds random noise to the size of the Rays.
  • Noise2: Adds random noise to the rotation of the Rays.
  • Noise3: Adds random noise to the overall Ray Element.

Circle Parameters

  • Bright: Set the brightness of the Circle.
  • Solid: Generate a solid Circle.
  • Fade In: Generate a Circle that fades to the center.
  • Fade Out: Generate a Circle that fades from the center.

Ring Parameters

  • Bright: Set the brightness of the Ring.
  • Minimum: Set inside diameter.
  • Maximum: Set outside diameter.
  • Solid: Generates a solid Ring.
  • Rainbow: Generates a rainbow Ring.

NGon Parameters

  • Bright: Set the brightness of the NGon.
  • Count: Set the number of Points.
  • Rotation: Set the rotation of the NGon.
  • Minimum: Set inside diameter.
  • Maximum: Set outside diameter.
  • Solid: Generates a solid NGon.
  • Fade In: Generate an NGon that fades to the center.
  • Fade Out: Generate an NGon that fades from the center.
